Artist in Residence Program
The Illinois River Winery wishes to promote Illinois art by providing comfortable sleeping and cooking accommodations to artists in a scenic and peaceful environment.
The Illinois River Winery has opened it’s winery apartment to Illinois artists for the purpose of creating art in the Starved Rock / Utica area. Selected artists will be able to stay for up to 3 consecutive nights at no cost, in exchange for leaving one piece of art that they have created “in residence” with the village of Utica. The Winery will accept applications from artists who create any reasonable form of media. An application fee of $5 will be collected at the time of application, and the winery reserves the right to reject applications based upon portfolio, public records, availability, etc.
The apartment is located in scenic Utica ½ mile from Starved Rock State park, 2 miles from Matheson State Park, 5 miles from Buffalo Rock state park and within sight of the Illinois River. This is one of Illinois’ most beautiful, and historic areas and located on the Illinois river.
The apartment is a cozy 300sqft, with a queen size Murphy bed, sleeper sofa, love seat, bathroom w/ shower, tv/vcr, chest of drawers, does not have a telephone, and located above the laboratory in the winery at 300 Donaldson street in Utica, IL.
